Previous Volunteer & Employee:
When I started at Furniturelink, I had been out of work for a long time. I had volunteered for it before when it was known as the Furniture project and I knew it was a very worthwhile charity that helped people and the environment. I enjoyed being able to get involved and everyone was very welcoming. It helped me to get into the routine of being active and gave me and opportunity to meet lots of different people. One of the best things about working with a charity is that the staff, volunteers and even most of the customers are all trying to so something positive.
After the first six months, during which I had re-discovered my existing skills and developed new ones, I was offered a part time position there and I found that I naturally wanted to take responsibility in my role and, where’ve I could, I would look for opportunities to improve myself and to improve the way my role affected others, As a self-funded charity, Furniturelink faces constant challenges to ensure its survival and I wanted to do my best to contribute to that.
I also found it very rewarding to see how Furniturelink made a real difference to the lives of those in need: One of the most significant ways you can improve someones life is by improving their home. Furniturelink certainly does that; I know that I have helped to improve the homes of many people including children who might otherwise still be without essential items like beds, sofas, wardrobes and white goods.
I was at Furniturelink for three years and left to go into full-time employment. It is a period that I will always think fondly of and I’m glad to have experienced.

Without Furniturelink, in 2006 I would have had nothing after my house fire. They are such lovely and caring people. Without them so many families would be without the basic items in life. I got a cot for my granddaughter for £15 in lovely condition. Thank you Neil. I will always go to Furniturelink they even helped me after my son had major surgery on his legs. Over the phone they took the measurements of a bed I needed to enable my son to be able to get out of it after his recovery. Within a day they had found and delivered a bed and only charged me £5 for it. Every single volunteer has a heart of gold and gives 100% to help those in need, I will never be able to thank them enough

I have just recently purchased a few items from Furniturelink, and I am very impressed! The table and chairs where a bargain, and the condition was excellent, as was the two-seat sofa. I was so impressed I went back and bought a TV cabinet, which was also good condition. £40 for a sofa | £40 for a table – BARGAINS!
